A ZUGFeRD invoice looks like an ordinary PDF. The data that counts sits in an XML file inside it. This shows you that data.

ZUGFeRD
ZUGFeRD is a German hybrid format: a PDF/A-3 file with a CII XML attached. People read the PDF, accounting software reads the XML. Since version 2.1 ZUGFeRD is technically the same as the French Factur-X.
Problems start when the two disagree. The PDF can show one amount while the XML says another, and only the XML counts for tax purposes. Opening the XML directly shows what your bookkeeping will actually import.
ZUGFeRD
ZUGFeRD comes in profiles: MINIMUM, BASIC WL, BASIC, EN 16931 (formerly COMFORT), EXTENDED and XRECHNUNG. The viewer names the profile. Note that in Germany MINIMUM and BASIC WL don't count as e-invoices for B2B, because they lack line items.
